The playbuses are double-decker buses which have been converted inside to provide the facilities required by playgroups, mothers and toddler groups. Activities provided include sand play, water play, table top play toys, home corner, arts and crafts, story telling and books and music and games. Each bus has a small kitchen and a toilet. The buses are individually decorated outside with brightly coloured, child friendly pictures.

Because they are mobile they can visit a number of different areas each week and provide playgroups and mother and toddler groups in places that do not have a convenient meeting place.

During July and August the playbuses are available to take part in special events and festivals when staff also provide face painting, arts and crafts and play facilities.

The V.S.B playbus visits Ballysillan each Friday and is used as part of a cross community activity bring young parents from the Greater Shankill together with young parents from catholic west Belfast.
