The Early Years Transition Scheme was devised as a method of preparing
children for school entrance. All children of school going age were
invited to attend the two week project. Fifty children attended
the scheme which was held in a local primary school. While the aim
was educational, the main theme was fun. The children engaged in
a range of activities including basic literacy and numeracy skills,
art and craft and games.
On
the final day of the scheme a "graduation" ceremony was
held. All parents were invited and each child, dressed in graduation
robes was presented with their graduation certificate by the Lord
Mayor of Belfast.
